Canterbury Cove - a BaCC: Week Two - Carnahan

I'm back with Week Two! And boy, let me tell you, this house was an endless fountain of entertainment. But if you really want to know what happened, you must read on. Once you get to the end you will be surprised that I hadn't ripped all my hair out by the end.

When Russell bought Club Carnahan, this is what it looked like. A small bathroom (sink and toilet), a pond, a poker table, a stereo, a chess table, a bubble blower, and a synthesizer... So pretty much nothing.

Russell opened the club, turned on the ticket machine, and began to con poor townies into buying tickets.

Customers at the club either danced, blew some bubbles, or were forced to fish with Russell to gain friendship and also fish.

Even the Atrociously Evil Wizard paid a visit and was then asked to leave before he caused any lightening storms or conjured any cockroaches. However, Russell made sure to get his number in case he decided he ever wanted to become a wizard.

Soon Russell's needs got very low so he closed the business and headed home.

The next night, Russell decided to invite Jackie on a date at his club for a quick and easy way to gain some customer loyalty stars.

However, after one little caress, Jackie decided it was time to leave... (?!) The only good thing about their short little date was that Russell ended up falling in love with his dear little Jackie.

Since he was already on the business lot, I just had him open up the club for a little more money earning.

And a couple of random townies played poker in the snow... Good thing they are wearing their outerwear!

The next day Russell invited Jackie over for what he hoped to be a more successful date.

And it certainly was.

(Notice the difference in their wants? Typical male?)
Since Jackie had the want to get engaged...

Of course I obliged. They are sickeningly sweet together, after all.

Russell then proceeded to ask her to move in and she brought $9,000 with her and this lovely plaque... I can't wait until my 'hood gets further along because I can just imagine that after having a ton of businesses and selling oodles and oodles of expensive things to townies that they are going to have loaded inventories. But alas, I must wait for that day for quite awhile, I am afraid.

I normally like to give my sims big beautiful weddings with all of their family and friends in attendance. However, these two are pretty much dirt poor at the moment and they don't really have very many friends and absolutely no family, so they had their own private little ceremony in the living room. (Only in the sims, right?)

After the wedding they, of course, wasted no time on working on the second generation. I need to build up my population!
(I love Russell's little wink in this picture.)

For a two bolt couple, these two are pretty stalky. As soon as they were done woohooing, they jumped back in the bed. Pft.

Here is a more in depth look at Jackie. I'm not really sure why I felt the need to show her life time want as there is no chance that she is going to accomplish it. She will just have to fill her life time meter bar... thing...

I'm not sure why I put this in here. I just think they are adorable.
(Notice that Russell is still in his undies...)

Soon, Jackie began to show signs of her pregnancy via morning sickness. I am pretty excited.

With the money that Jackie brought in, Club Carnahan received a makeover!

There is definitely still some room for improvement, but for the time being, this will do. I really like the color scheme and am pretty happy with the result.

Soon after the remodel, the business reached level 1. WHOO!

Russell tries to befriend people while at the club but it seems that almost every conversation that he ever starts ends badly. Either he has no people skills, or all of my townies are mean.

Back at the ranch, Jackie was experiencing her first belly bump. She looks pretty surprised. She must know something I don't.

I realized near the end of the week that somehow groceries needed to be restocked in the fridge, and as much as I want to rebuy the fridge every time that they need food, I decided to build them a greenhouse and poor pregnant Jackie was the first victim to start in on the gardening.

I tried to get Jackie to up her creativity so that eventually she can paint both her and Russell's portraits so that they can be remembered forever by their future generations.

And the second bump, complete with little rings of light.

Being in a BaCC neighborhood in the beginning means fixing every single thing in your house that breaks. And with hardly any mechanical points, this can become quite the challenge. However, somehow Russell managed to fix the sink.

When Jackie woke up the next morning she made the bed and then proceeded to go into labor. When the message popped up it said, "There are TWO new babies on the way!" and I thought, awesome, my population will go up that much faster...

All I could do at this point was stare weakly at the screen. FOUR?! Two, I can do, yes, but four?! This is the first time that I have ever been "blessed" with quadruplets after installing the hack and I might not mind if they weren't extremely poor and pretty much had no way to earn a decent income. Not only that but they live on the smallest lot size in a one bedroom home with no room to expand and no money to buy a new house. For one brief second I thought to myself, "Olivia, you can just quit without saving!", but where is the challenge and fun in that?

So I squeezed them all into the living room. And boy are they hard to take care of. They all dirty their diapers and insist on being fed at the same time. And there only ever seems to be one parent who is in a good enough mood to take care of them. I am dreading their toddler years. They had better be cute.

Of course, to add insult to injury, the sink decided to break again, and Russell, the only one with any mechanical points, was sleeping and hungry. After commanding Jackie to fix it about a million times it finally got fixed.

When the art hobby leader showed up to give Jackie her pass with his beautiful pink hair...

and when Jackie glitched in her chair after lecturing one of the babies for pooping, I chuckled a bit and knew that everything would work out in the end... at least, I hoped it would. *knocks on wood*

I am thinking that maybe it is time for a new household now...

You sure got your population points! At least Russell wasn't abducted by aliens at the same time...

Oh goodness. That would have been really rough. I'm sure I will love them all immensely... when they are children!

Quads! Amazing. I remember a single sim having quads and she already had one kid, and they only got taken away by the social worker twice (I didn't save obviously, they were my first set of quads afterall), so I'm sure you will manage with two sims looking after them. And i'm sure they'll be adorable, you can't go wrong with Russel and Jackies lovely faces. I love the business too, very colourful. Good luck with the babies!

Oh wow, you were very brave. I'm sure they will be cute. I hope they get Russell's eye shape. I haven't checked to see yet if any of them got Jackie's eye color but I hope at least one did.

Wow. That business looks just like all my business when I start them! :P No walls, I usually just use an awning to stop all the complaining about rain and hail XD

FOUR BABIES?!! Ahhh! I got triplets with my founder, and I was ready to yell at her, they had no room and not enough money for three babies! Then... my game crashed. At first I was about to weep, until I realised... NO TRIPLETS! So I did a little dance, and started my game up again and... my founder had twins instead. -_- *sigh* A LITTLE bit better... but, yeah.

Can't wait for your next update! :D

Ah yes. It's going to be awhile before any of the businesses start out as anything other than a few thngs on the grass with a tiny bathroom and an open/closed sign.

The only reason that I decided to stick with the quads is because it was my first set ever and I just wanted to experience it. Either that or I am just a glutton for punishment. x]

Thanks for taking the time to read it. I am glad that you like it so far.

i'm catching up on my friends list and just got here. Quads! I never installed that hack, because I think my problem usually is overpopulation rather than childlessness. Anyway, fun with a kick-start to your population!

I just thought it would be fun to install it and so far it has been. I rarely ever actually get triplets of quads since the chances for them are so low, so it's not bad.

Oh my -- quads in the first household. Trips&Quads tends to play little tricks on me (one example from my prosperity challenge: male sims has the LTW to woohoo with 20 sims, his wife a career LTW. His wife goes off to work and I have him invite over a lover -- chance card pops up just as they're getting ready to woohoo, and the wife gets fired. Wife finds her husband woohooing another woman, and becomes furious with him; while furious, his ACR timer goes off and she gets pregnant. One pregnancy later, she gives me quads).

I know you're way ahead, but while I find triplet/quad toddlers to be a pain, if you can get a pattern going they're pretty easy to look after (and if you can't afford to build separate rooms, the floor dividers that came with pets act as sound blockers and stop all the others being woken up prematurely).

And hey! They increased your population :P

That sounds like it must have been hard to deal with! Sometimes it's randomness likes to pop up in the worst times.
Actually, once I taught them all their toddler skills, they were just as easy to take care of as twins would be, so it wasn't so bad. Plus, since Russell and Jackie didn't work they had more time to devote to them, which was nice.

I have to admit, one of my friends got the tale told over offline message through MSN (for example, me groaning over Sylvia being fired and finding Nathan with another woman, all the way through to the birth of the quads). If you're interested, the events are documented here, about two-thirds down the page, and the aftermath and trying to raise four toddlers is here -- I will warn you that I play without the censor blur hack, so while the images are censored, they're still more revealling than normal.

It certainly looks like raising the toddlers was easy, and I hope you're not cursed blessed given quads again any time soon. They're nice once in a while, but after a few households they can be an annoyance (at least to me).

Wow. That is crazy!

i would dread 4 babies f i want using any cheats!
olivethegreatolivethegreat on January 12th, 2011 05:14 am (UTC)
I can be quite hard, but with a lot of practice it gets better and this wasn't my first time having quads. Also, I don't use cheats even when I am not playing a challenge, at least not very often at all.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. :)

i dont like top use cheats often either, it makes the game boring. but i cant live without hacks! i have many. just things that stop those little annoying things from happening like 'no auto playing SSX on the computer" and such....
olivethegreatolivethegreat on January 18th, 2011 06:11 pm (UTC)
Ah yes. I have some hacks too. I just don't use very many that really affect gameplay too much.
